United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI)- Chapter Inauguration- Assumption College Changanacherry

The United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) is an initiative of United Nations that aligns institutions of higher education in supporting and contributing to the realization of United Nations goals.

Holding this concept in our mind, the college is much privileged to be a member of UNAI.

The Inauguration of UNAI Chapter in Assumption college was held on 15th Novemebr ,2018. Focal point Sr Minimol welcomed the gathering .Chapter was  inaugurated by Mr. Saji  Charuvil Thomas, Patron KFUNAI. Sr. Thresiamma Devasia,Principal of Assumption college presided over the meeting.  A briefing on the extension  experience was shared  by  Dr. Rani Maria Thomas, IQAC coordinator of the college. Dr. B Harilal, the focal point of UNAI and Adarsh Babu -KFUNAI President felicitated the function.

Stakeholders meeting

After the inaugural ceremony at 11 am, a stake holder meeting was organised at the conference hall of the college for imparting the principles of sustainable development and capacity building to the neighbourhood community and institutions. The Principal of the college presided over the function.

From October 2018 onwards the students of social work department of Assumption college is enthusiastic in providing school students mentoring. St.Josephs HSS  participated in the meeting and the college ensured further support and assistance to empower the children of the school.

In order to lead in Green Mission of the locality, Assumption College has proposed a Green Protocol which may be followed by the municipality of Changanacherry in its Waste Management Strategy. The protocol is handed over to the honourable Municipal Chairman during the meeting. College is also taking a proactive step to introduce green culture among student population of Assumption College. The college officially announced her commitment to follow a green path in all activities and functioning.

Self defence Training

Simultaneously self defence training was organised for students at William Hall from 11am to 4pm on 15th November in collaboration with Pink Police- Kottayam (a project of Kerala government for building the capacity in women to safeguarding themselves). The motto of the programme was “Strengthening the pink force of Assumption”.

The second session of the programme was conducted on 23rd November 2018 from 10.30 am to 4pm with a formal inauguration by Circle Inspector of Police, Kottayam.
