ARCHBISHOP POWATHIL ASSUMPTION COMMUNITY COLLEGE (APACC) 

Archbishop Powathil Assumption Community College (APACC) is an extension wing of Assumption College, Changanassery and is the means through which Assumption College reaches out to the specific needs of the community. APACC was formally inaugurated by his Excellency Archbishop Pedro Lopez Quintana on 11 February 2005. It is designed in accordance with the policy adopted and recommended by the National Policy of Education(NPE) and UGC with a view to finding a remedy for the lack of social commitment in higher education and to generating employability in the unreached sector of the community. APACC is registered under Madras Centre for Research and Development of Community Education [MCRDCE] Chennai- the Co-ordinating Agency of all Community Colleges in India

To sensitize the Assumption fraternity to its immediate community thereby making its existence more meaningful for the creation of a self sufficient, self reliant and sustainable community.

News & Events

Rev. Dr. Cherukusumam and Mrs. Binumol K V attended the 35th teachers training programme organized by the Indian Centre for Research and Development of Community Education (ICRDCE) from 2nd to 7th November 2015.

Mrs. Binumol K V (course coordinator) was attended National Workshop on Review, evaluation, action plan for UGC Community College & B.Voc Centre principals or Nodal officers in the state of Kerala on 15/9/2015.

Dr. Sr. Amala was attended a meeting and presented a report about the community college in Delhi on 18/05/2015.

UGC Community college was inaugurated by his Excellency Archbishop Mar Joseph Powathil on 14/9/2015.

Diploma in Office Administration & Secretarial Practice classes started on 3/9/2015.

Advanced Diploma in Textile & Garment Designing classes started on 10/8/2015.

Interview conducted to the candidates for the UGC sponsored Advanced Diploma in Textile & Garment Designing course on 3/8/2015.

Rev.Sr. Cherukusumam CMC has been appointed as the Director of APACC on 4/5/2015.

Training in Mushroom Cultivation– A workshop was organised for public on 18th December 2014.

Exhibition cum sale- to support Women Entrepreuners – Onamela was organised in collaboration with YWCA, S.H Sevanikethan Society, Changanacherry on 3rd & 4th September 2014.

Tarining in Organic Farm– A Seminar on BACK TO NATURE & inauguration of The International Kitchen Garden Year-2014 (12th August) was conducted by Dr Daisy Kuchinad & Distribution of Vegitable seeds- 12th August 2014.

Training in Horticultural Practices– In collaboration with the department of Botany, training in Orchid cultivation was organised on 29th January 2014.

Conservation of Environment– To conserve plant diversity to promote a micro enterprise among student entrepreners an orchidarium was constructed in the campus for demonstrating purpose. Prof. Udayasankar, NIMSME Hyderbad inaugurated the orchidarium on 24th January 2014.

International Conference on Entrepreneurship & Women inaugurated by Dr. Sheena Shukkur, Pro Vice Chancellor, MG University on January 21st -24th 2014 organized by Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry & Assumption College Changanacherry supported by Ministry of Micro Small and Mediam Enterprises.

The Train the Trainer Programme inaugurated by Dr Rejani Aggarwal President, FIWE, New Delhi

Orchidarium inaugurated by Prof. Udaya Sankar – NIMSME, Hyderabad.

Incubation in Tailoring was started for 12 Kudumbashree members in Kottayam Dist On 7th October 2013.
