Activities of Folklore Club


  • The activities of Thanima Folklore club 2017-18 was inaugurated on August 17th 2017 on the occasion of  Varnapadham inauguration .
  • V.James Manimala retired H.O.D Department of Malayalam S.B College delivered a talk on Folk culture of Kerala on 17th August 2017
  • Conducted an inter departmental folk Dance competition on August 20th 2017

2016 -2017

  • Thanima folklore club was inaugurated by the occasion of Varnapatham inauguration on 4th August 2016 by Sri. Saju C Mahew (chief edit.Balarama ).
  • Thanima folklore club conduct a Nadanpattu competition on 9th September 2016.

2015 – 2016

  • In the academic year 2015-2016 Folklore club of the Assumption College ‘Thanima’ inauguration was held on 19 August 2015 at the William memorial hall. The inaugural speech was delivered by Dr. Appukkuttan A.K, A.E.O., Changanassery.
  • Special folksong programme was presented by Sri.Mangal Das and Team of Purappadu Samskarika Sangam Changanassery on 19th August 2015
  • Assumption Folklore club hosted the inauguration of Suvarnam , the cultural fest of Kerala Samsakarika vedi and folklore academy of Kannor on 9th December 2015
  • Balakrishnan Koyyal delivered a talk on theyyam- Anushtanam,Charithram Sandharabham at 11. 00 Am on 9th December 2015
  • C K Sivadasan and team (Drisyakala kendram,koottooth,Vadakara) presented the Bhagavathi Theyyam in The afternoon of  December 2015

2014 -2015

  • Folklore Club of the Assumption College ‘Thanima’ formal inauguration of the club activities was held on August 22 Friday 2014 at the Powathil Hall. The inaugural meeting was preside by Dr. Appukuttan A.K., A.E.O., Changanassery and delivered the inaugural speech.
  • As part of the folklore club inauguration, a special Folksong Programme was staged.
  • Appukkuttan initiated discussion with the students on the topic ‘folklore studies’. Proverbs and riddles were also presented during the discussion.
  • The club organized a visit for students to various historical places such as Thakazhi, Ambalappuzha and Karumadi.
