Post Accreditation Initiatives

  • One of the suggestions made by the NAAC Peer Team in the last accreditation in 2014 was to apply for an autonomous status to the College. The very next year, that is, in 2015, the College applied for autonomous status and the same was conferred to the College in 2016.
  • Another suggestion made by the Peer Team in 2014 was renovation of the laboratories of the College. The Management provided the financial assistance to renovate the science labs, Language lab and also to construct a conference hall to make a more conducive teaching learning ecosystem.
  • Peer led Communication Skills training to improve the self confidence of students. Advanced learners from various departments were given training in the first step by the faculty members of the Department of English and these students in turn will train the rest of the students.
  • Revamped the Mentoring System: A common mentoring book has been designed by the IQAC to achieve standardisation. Besides, training in effective mentoring was given to the mentors.
  • ICT enabled teaching and learning: A-view has been installed for accessing online lectures by academicians in institutions of national repute. New e-journals were procured and the students were given a month long e- learning sessions. Besides, several workshops were organised to familiarize teachers with the technology enabled teaching learning process.
  • Syllabus Restructuring: All the departments restructured their syllabus immediately after getting the autonomous status. Workshop was organized for effective restructuring of syllabus which is outcome based.
  • ERP implementation: ERP has been implemented for effective conduct of admissions, examinations, administration and finance. This has reduced the time consumption, made the management process more transparent and efficient.
  • Assumption College Skill Acquisition and Development (ACSAD): This is intended to provide the students with skill sets that improve their employability and entrepreneurial acumen. All the Departments started skill imparting certificate courses related to their discipline.
  • Assumption Extension and Social Outreach Programme (AESOP): This is a compulsory 18 hours social involvement programme to inculcate social commitment in students.
  • Bridge Course: Bridge course has been introduced from 2017-18 academic year onwards with a standardized format.
  • Student IQAC: This is a novel venture of the IQAC to involve the major stakeholder in higher education, the student community, in the quality initiatives of the institution.
