It strives to maintain a healthy relationship between the Management and Faculty besides fostering co-operation and good will among staff members. The Staff Association conducts various academic and entertainment programmers for teachers. It takes the lead in organizing inter-collegiate elocution competitions in Malayalam and English, debates, Bible Quiz competition etc.

Let me present before you a brief report of the activities of the Staff Association for the academic year 2018-19.
At the General Body Meeting held on 5th June 2018 in Powathil Hall, the following members were elected as office bearers for the year 2018-19.
The newly elected President addressed the gathering. The following were the Staff Association representatives from various departments.
The meetings of the Staff Association Executives were held on 7 July, 27 July,30 August, 26 November, 3 December,21 January 2019 and11 March 2019.
The activities of the Staff Association were formally inaugurated by Dr. P Geeta, Member, NAAC Peer Team on 13 th July 2018 in the William Hall. On this occasion Toppers of Xth and XIIth Board Examination from among the children of the faculty members were honoured with memento and cash prize.
This year the first function before the formal inauguration was the Condolence meeting organised to pay tribute to Rev. Sr. Roseline, former Principal of the college. It was conducted in the Seminar hall at 3:00 pm and the President of Staff Association; Ms. Manjulin presented the Resolution and handed over to the representatives of the Adoration Congregation.The members of the Association joined with NSS and Union to supply needy materials to Kidangara rehabilitation Camp on 14th June 2018. The year as you all know had suffered from the difficulties of the flood and Staff Association under the guidance of Manager, Rev. Philips Wadakkekalam was entrusted to organise the staff Charity activity that aimed in helping financially the flood affected students by raising a Flood Relief Fund which was formed by the contributions of all the staff members of our college. The Staff Association coordinated the collection of the fund and distributed to the deserving students. A total amount of 11,76,283 rupees was collected from the staff and 219 students were benefitted . I take this opportunity to specially thank all the staff for their wholehearted support in this venture.
Due to heavy rains and the unexpected holidays before the Onam vacation, the Association couldn’t organise Onam celebration. The Christmas celebration was organised on 21st December 2018 in the Indoor Court. The gift exchange among the teachers was conducted in the in the Powathil hall on the same day. Principal together with the retiring teaching staffs, Ms. Rosamma VA and Ms. Rosamma Jacob cut the cake and it was distributed among the teaching staff.
The feast days of our Patron His Grace Mar Joseph Perumthottam, former Patron Mar Joseph Powathil and Manager Rev.Dr. Philips Wadakkekalam were commemorated. Feast Day greetings and prayers of the Assumption family were extended by the Principal, Vice Prncipals and Staff members.The feast days of our Principal and Vice Principal were celebrated and the faculty members gathered to convey their wishes and prayers.
The Staff Association organised Mother Maurus Memorial Debate Competition on 23rd January 2019 in the Powathil Hall at 2:30 pm. The topic was ‘Janadipathyavum Rashtreeyavum Virudhadhruvagalilekku’.The first prize was bagged by Reshma Rachel and Arya Krishna of the Economics Department. Rose Thomson and Annamma Varghese from the Dept of Commerce secured the second prize. Reshma Rachel of III Dc Economics was adjudged the Best Debator.
The All Kerala Inter Collegiate Elocution Contest in Malayalam and English was conducted on 29th January 2019 in the Seminar Hall at 10: 00am. The topic for the English Elocution was “Changing Cultural and Religious Contours in India. Are we going forward?” and for Malayalam Elocution the topic was ‘Samakala Keralathile Pouravakasadhomsanakal’.In the English Elocution , the first prize was bagged by Mathews Joshy of K E Mananam College and the second prize was secured by Alexander Joy P from Devmatha College ,Kuruvilagad.In the Malayalam Elocution, Gopikrishnan Nair from BVMHCC secured first prize, Diya Susan Baby of Alphonsa college got second prize and Joseph Xavier of St. Aloysius College, Edathua and Sufijan Ali from St. Thomas, Pala shared the third prize.
Prof Molly Joseph Memorial Bible Quiz Competition was held on 14th February 2019 in the seminar hall. Fr. Midhin Kappithottam was the quiz master.Sr. Anita Thomas and Sminu K John of English Department secured first prize, the second prize was bagged by Emilin Elisabeth Siby and Megha Joshly of the Department of Botany and the third prize was won by Divya Ance Varghese and Anne Thomas of the Department of Mathematics.
The Staff Tour was arranged on 9th February to Alappuzha which include places like Ravi Karunakara Museum,Arthunkal Church and Marari Beach. The trip was enjoyable and we returned back by 6:00pm.Staff Sports was organised on 14th March 2019 at 2:00pm. It was organised with the association of the Dept of Physical Education and competitions in different items were conducted. The Sports Day was inaugurated by Principal Rev.Sr. Cherukusumam CMC and there was an enthusiastic response from the teachers. Badminton competitions were conducted from morning itself.
The Staff Association organised the farewell meeting for the retiring staff on 25th March 2019.Our Manager, Rev. Dr. Philips Wadakkekalam was the chief guest.He delivered the Benedictory message and Principal Rev. Sr. Cherukusumam made a felicitation speech. Staff representatives from the Departments of the retiring staff shared their memories.
The members of the Staff Association attended the funerals of the mother of Ms. Sumayamma George(former faculty, Dept of Physics), father-in-law of Ms. Ann Mary (Dept of Maths),mother of Sr. Elsy George (former superintendent),Rev. Sr. Mary Angel CMC(former faculty, Dept of Economics),Prof. SumamMary John(former faculty, Dept of Physics),father of Rev.Dr. Mercy Nedumpuram(former Principal),father of Sr. Jovit(former faculty,Dept of Maths),Shaji Joseph(non-teaching staff),Ms. Anne J Thekkemury(former faculty, Dept of Home Science),father of Dr. Mariamma Jacob(Dept of Political Science),mother of Raniamma Antony(former faculty,Dept of Chemistry),mother of Jyothis(Dept of Chemistry),brother of Ms. Rosamma Jacob(Dept of Maths) and father of Dr. Sherin Thomas(Dept of Physics).We place on record our sincere condolences to the families of the bereaved and pray that the departed souls may rest in peace.
The activities of the Staff Association 2018-19 were successfully completed by the wholehearted support and cooperation of all the staff members. Before concluding, let me take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to Rev.Sr. Cherukusumam for her prompt guidance and support in all our efforts. Our heartfelt thanks to Rev.Dr. Thomas Joseph Parathara Vice Principal and Bursar for his suggestions and help. Dr. Anita Jose , Vice Principal was always us with her valuable comments and advices.I take this opportunity to thank my team members, executive members,other faculty members, nonteaching staff for their valuable cooperation. All our activities for this year could conclude happily and gracefully with the immense blessings of God Almighty.
